I am a licensed psychologist who has worked in the field of mental health for decades. I started my private practice in 2007 and have worked with both children and adults. Prior to private practice, I was employed for over 9 years in residential programs for children with psychiatric and behavioral challenges. I have also worked in a therapeutic foster care program for 4 years and in an outpatient psychiatric clinic for 8 years at a local children’s hospital. While I have a strong background in treating youth, I have also provided individual and group counseling services to adults since 2007. Currently adults represent about half of my clientele.
I have also coached parents of youth with psychiatric disorders to help support them in their home, school, and community. My background and experience have provided a strong foundation to suggest effective strategies for reducing conflict and increasing functional behavior, a combination that supports increased happiness for the entire family.
I have extensive knowledge and experience with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am trained in evidence based treatments for Mood Disorders, Self-Harm and Suicidality, Anxiety Disorders, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I also have extensive experience in the treatment of Eating Disorders, ADHD/Learning Disabilities, Trauma, and Substance Abuse and Dependence.
My academic background includes a Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Seattle awarded in December 2020. I have also earned a Master’s of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Seattle University in 1998.
I have worked as an adjunct faculty in the Master’s of Arts program in Mental Health Counseling at Seattle University and the Master’s of Education in Counseling program at Argosy University.
